Why Have You Not Mentioned That A PH Specialist Is Far More Superior To Any General Hospital Pulmonologist Or Cardiologist?
I have IPAH and am a co2 retainer and yet no doctors in general hospitals know of IPAH.
Unfortunately, not all cardiologists or pulmonologists are trained to treat PH, especially PAH. My cardiologist defers to my pulmonologist for all PAH related matters. His training is limited when it comes to treating PAH although he is quite skilled at treating all other classifications (2-5). If you live in an area with large university-based hospitals or a heart hospital they generally have a PH Clinic. You can also find PH specialists/centers on the PH Association website.
It's important to note that while general hospital pulmonologists and cardiologists can provide valuable care, a specialist in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is often more knowledgeable about the nuances of this rare condition.
