If you take them longer than a day or two, you definitely need your doc to keep an eye on your electrolytes-- your sodium, potassium, etc; simple little blood test. The muscle cramps can be caused by your potassium being low, which can happen anytime you're peeing more. It's very easy to take a potassium capsule with the water pill. I have to take at least 40mg of Lasix every day, because my PH is causing big-time swelling (that can mess with your heart). Without the potassium, i have severe cramps in my legs especially at night, and in my hands during the day. (Sometimes, if you read about potassium or see it written by your doc, you'll see it mentioned by its chemical symbol, "K".)
Take care, Gdidit.
