Do You Have Leg Or Feet Cramps And What Do You Do About It?
I have noticed my toes, feet, and calf muscles cramping more than usual. I have nerve damage in my lower legs due to back trouble. But the cramping has gotten worse recently. I'm thinking the diuretic could be the culprit. Do any of you have this problem and how do you deal with it?
@A myPHteam Member diuretics not only flush excess fluid from your body but also essential electrolytes including potassium, magnesium, and sodium. Loss of these electrolytes can cause cramping. Before taking any supplements, I would encourage you to talk with your doctor first. You need an electrolyte panel drawn to determine where you are deficient.
Yep! I take potassium every time I take diuretics.
When I get the cramp in my legs I drink dill pickle juice and believe it or not it actually makes it feel better.
I get the cramping in my legs at night. If I drink a powdered pedialyte in 12 oz water during the day they seem controlled. The pedialyte is lower sodium & more potassium than any other otc drink I’ve found.
Thanks everyone. I do take potassium with the diuretic. I will look into the magnesium supplements. I watch my salt and I love pickles, but I noticed the salt content is too much.
