PSMITH, hey man I am 78 and have lost muscle mass in arms, legs, and mind. I have had Physical therapy twice but once it is over so am I. Just can't get the incentive. I need 10 cords of firewood to cut and split. That would help keep in shape. 78 is to young to be fragile.

I have lost so much muscle mass since getting this disease 2 years ago. I am unable to do the things I could do. Mostly do to SOB, and fatigue.

pat I have diabetis, COPD,Puknonary Hypertension, and multiple myaloma. About a year ago I was a mess. I started my PH pills and enterded a Physio class for 10 weeks and three times a week for 2 hours each. I was amazed at how much better I felt. I still exersise at home with elastic bands and recline bike. Ask yout DR id there is and COPD rehab available and if you could di it. All the best.
PS I had AFIB too buthad an ablation 20 years ago. So far so good.

Hi Psmith, you have to go on your level but would light weight dumbbells or resistant bands help you gain some strength? Even chair exercises might would help. We lose that muscle mass as we get older, I had to modify everything for me as I really liked lifting weights but due to my back problems and lung problems I had to learn how to move to light weight dumbbells and body weight exercises. I add a light weight dumbbell interval routine into my pulmonary rehab, they set these programs up for us that want to add some weight lifting. We do 30 sec step ups to start, then 10 bicep curls, then 10 front raises, a 30 sec. wall sit, I add in tricep extensions 10, and bent over rows, finishing one set with 10 front lunges. I do 3 sets which takes me a little over 15 min. I know that sounds like way too much but the heaviest dumbbell I use is 10 lbs., I also use 5 lb. and 8 lbs. but that is not where I started, i used only 5lbs. for many months so I have been moving up as I have gotten some strength back since I had SI joint fusion surgery last spring. I also started with just 2 sets and now do 3 sets. But...that is me and it is much harder for others and I had been seriously working out the past 7 years, I just modify as it gets harder to do, which I have had to really modify. Ask your PT about some strength exercises, my PT helped me modify many of my exercises. Way too much here but please do what YOU can, and ask your PT to suggest things. It is not easy, I can only do 3 days a week and I have to have a rest day between my workout days so I don't over train like I did at first. Keep going!!❤️🙏

You can do light exercises. I have thought about like doing light lifting in a chair with small hand weights. It could bring some of the muscle mass back and help with your PAH. Just don’t overdo it.
