Does Anyone Else Have A Bad Day With Their Cough And Then Wonder If They Actually Did Take The 2nd Dose Of Their Inhaler?

A myPHteam Member asked a question 💭

Had a pretty tight day yesterday. No extra stress, no extra activity, etc. I remember looking at my inhaler thinking, "which would be safer..in puff or 3?" Anyone else have this problem? Can't take the puffs at the same time..that is what messes me up.

Members related to the common struggle of forgetting whether they had taken their inhaler doses, with many sharing creative tracking methods like setting phone alarms, marking boxes with hash marks, keeping a notepad by the inhaler, or placing pennies in a jar after each dose. Several members explained their own inhaler routines, including maintenance inhalers like Advair, Breo, and Trelegy taken once or twice daily, plus rescue albuterol inhalers used as needed, with some noting that an extra puff of albuterol is generally safe but other medications should be checked with a doctor first. A recurring theme was the exhausting reality of managing chronic cough and breathing issues, the difficulty of admitting when help is needed, and the value of visible reminders and support systems to stay on track with medication routines.

Keep a pad under your inhaler and right it down when you take it! The only way to remember Angie. God bless you,

I use a maintenance inhaler twice a day and a rescue inhaler as needed. I sometimes think, "Did I use my maintenance inhaler?" I also have times when I am uncertain if I need my rescue inhaler. You'd think I'd know. I'm a retired nurse!

Hi Angie. I take one pill TID and I have to set an alarm on my phone for 2:30 pm to remember it. I don't know anything about inhalers. 🫂
