Has Anyone Had An Endoscopy When You Have Had PH. Was There Trouble With Propofol Anesthesia Or Sedatives?
Has anyone had an endoscopy when you have had PH. Was there trouble with Propofol anesthesia or sedatives? Some have recommended using no sedation, just a local on the back of the throat to get the tube in comfortably.
When I had my SI joint fusion, the first anesthesiologist that talked to me didn't seem to interested in all my things since I had clearance from my specialists as long as it was done at a hospital and that they would keep me overnight for observation. But then when I talked to the anesthesiologist that was going back with me she sat and talked with me right before going back, and changed all her protocol for me, she said give me 10 minutes and I will get this done better for your heart and lungs. So just be sure to talk to them, don't let them go just on the pre-admission forms some of the people don't see all of that. The surgery went fine!!
I had both a Colonoscopy and Endoscopy in October and they used Fentanyl. No problems. No after effects at all.
Check with your Doctor to see if they have a cardiac anesthesiologist at the facility that you are having it done. I can't have Mac or General anesthesia unless I have one there. My last major surgery there were 6 of them there because it was a longer surgery. took about 6 hours. I believe they use Mac for an endoscopy. That's the one that you are carefully monitored but not put under fully. Your PAH doc should know all this. I'd give him a call.
It really depends on your particular medical conditions. The best option is to talk with your PH doctor first.
Jay,
I underwent a procedure of esophagus stretching, and Propofol is what was used on me w/ no issues at all. I have also been put under for major surgery w/ major anesthesia. I don't know what was used, however, that took place 2 x in a year. I had no problems with that anesthesia either.
