Did You Know You Can Do Your 6 Minute Walks Using A Walker?
My back has been bothering me so I asked my clinic doctor if I could possibly use my rollator when I had to do my 6 minute walk today. To my surprise, YES! Patients can always use a walker, rollator, or cane when doing the 6 minute walks. I felt like I was cheating but the nurse administering the test said that it was perfectly fine and built into the standards.
It went well but I felt like I was cheating using my rollator. It was wonderful to be able to do the full 6 minutes without any hip or back pain and only my regular SOB.
Linda, that 83 is really low like Heather said. You know we are all different and at different levels with our conditions but I love the way so many of you can be so positive and supportive of everyone on here. Those positive vibes and prayers help everyone more than we know!! So thank you to all of you!!❤️🙏
It stayed in the low to mid 90s so not bad at all.
Yes, I didn’t realize everyone didn’t know. I guess I just assumed everyone was told they could use whatever walking assistance they needed.
Since I have orthopedic problems too (from the tbx4 gene mutation causing my PAH), I have used a crutch or walker with every 6 minute walk I have ever done. Actually since my knee and hip surgery 7 years ago, I can’t walk anywhere on any surface without assistance. So, if I didn’t use my walker during a 6minute walk test, my end distance would be zero feet.
@A myPHteam Member. That is really good news Heather! How is your fur babies doing? Chloe is doig good. Have a great Saturday! 🙂
What Is The Recommendation Re: Exercise? I Get SOB If I Walk More Than 10 Min. Without Any Aid, But Have Found An Upright Walker Helps.
