Hi Willie, it's often revealing to look at the profits declared by these pharma companies and the payouts to shareholders, executive salaries etc.

I popped that question to a representative of the company that I get my lung medicine from and was given a long winded run down on what these companies go thru to get their meds on the market. They didn't like my explanation as to why meds are so expensive.

All need to be careful of medicare advantage programs. They sometime forget to tell people with chronic conditions that what your are really getting is like an old HMO, they say who and where you can go for care, have to be approved for everything, if a prescription plan is with it they can deny you at the drop of a hat. I was told to stay on regular medicare with good supplements so I had more choices of which doctors I could see. I also have to check and change if necessary my prescription supplement yearly, I have been able to save money each year so far. I have a good consultant that meets with my husband and I every fall. My Aunt found out the hard way, not always able to go back to regular Medicare if you go to an Advantage program. That is just my opinion but just make sure when it sounds too good to be true... what are you giving up? Ok off my soap box...

I was with welcare for awhile but they dropped the specialty med I take for my fibrosis and lowered some of my benefits so I switched to United. They're pretty good so far. They don't have my lung med in their list but they actually cover it cause I get it thru the hospitals specialty pharmacy.
