Members shared deeply personal sources of strength when facing declining health, with faith, family, and pets emerging as the most powerful motivators to keep going each day. Several members described finding purpose through structured activities like church groups, volunteer work, regular lunch dates with friends, ceramics classes, and caring for beloved animals, with many emphasizing that putting events on the calendar helps push through difficult days. A recurring theme was reframing daily life around smaller joys and adjusted goals, whether that means working on puzzles, enjoying puppy kisses, treasuring time with grandchildren, or simply being grateful for another day and the ability to live independently.

I have a small group at church that have become some of my closest friends, we talk almost every day and pray for each other. I also go back and help out at the college where I coached women's volleyball for over 23 years, I am just a consultant for the young coaches, but I get to enjoy watching the team play. Most of all I have a husband that has been with me for over 50 years, 2 adult children, a son-in-law and 3 grandkids, we all live in the same town. I do the best I can so I can enjoy activities with them. The grandkids grow up way too fast. Talking with people on this site that understands really has helped me understand how to better handle it. My ILD, pulmonary fibrosis and mild PH is slow progressing so far so I have been blessed.

Just realizing each day is a GIFT, friends & faith help me. Ofcourse…..I’m grateful I can still run the roads some to 🙂. Just being able to live by myself, & being the queen of my little castle helps me to hold onto my strength for which I’m grateful for 🌿❤️🌿

Yes Kris, it is good, I am an old Army brat so my family was always moving when I was growing up, many times we had to live away from the rest of our family like grandparents and aunts and uncles, so my husband and I tried to stay in one place for our kids and they both chose to stay here. That is the reason we have stayed up north otherwise we would have moved back south which is where we came from. I do have one older brother up here about 1.5 hours away. You have a great weekend too, praying for more GOOD days for you!!❤️🙏

Simple, Jesus Christ! As I was laying on the floor and on the stretcher in the ambulance, with no vital signs, Jesus, told me I had a lot more work to do here on earth. He told me if I wanted to be big (he showed me what big was), to get up and be his instrument, servant, and conduit to spread his words of Good News to the people. I got up and I get up each day, to be his servant! Always start the day with prayer!

I really find peace and about the best joy I find in life as it relates to my animals. Memories of animal in the past and my current animals. I swear by the fact that if it weren't for them the circumstances of my life would have been much different. I can't check out and leave them they look to me to take care of them. That's what I do. Of course then there are the times when they drive me crazy and push the limits as far as they can get away with. I wouldn't have it any other way.
