Is Pah Curable?
PAH is considered a non-curable, chronic medical condition. However, with proper medical management, many people do quite well. I was diagnosed with PAH in 2022. At that time my PAWP was 36. I started Tadalafil shortly after diagnosis. Ambrisentan was added a couple of months later. Earlier this year I had another RHC. My PAWP is now 13, well within the normal range. I know I'll be on medications to treat PAH for the rest of my life. My pulmonologist told me she expects me to live at least another 20 years if not longer. I'm 65. I like those odds.
@A myPHteam Member I have never required oxygen during the daytime, only at night. I have a lot of pain control issues. I suspect my bedtime medications are the cause of my O2 levels dropping at night. I recently had a cardiopulmonary exercise test done. My pulmonary function and endurance is quite good.
Wow. That is great to hear.
Welcome to the site. As treatment has and still is improving, the outlook for the future is looking better all the time but no cure is yet available. 🤗
@A myPHteam Member, Since your pressures are down to 13 do you still have to use oxygen?
