If you are experiencing syncope (fainting) and weakness, here are some steps you can take based on my knowledge base:

For Syncope (Fainting):
- Consult Your Doctor: Fainting can be a sign of advanced pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and should be evaluated by your doctor.
- Avoid Triggers: Try to avoid activities that make you feel dizzy or faint, such as:
- Skipping meals
- Standing up too quickly
- Exercising in hot weather
- Breathing too fast

For Weakness:
- Attend Medical Appointments: It's crucial to attend your doctor’s appointments to ensure your condition is closely monitored and you’re on the best treatment plan.
- Seek Help for Muscle Weakness: If you get a chance to see a doctor, ask about treatments for muscle weakness or overall weakness.
- Monitor for Urgent Symptoms: Weakness, especially in your arms or legs, can be a sign of chronic heart failure or a heart attack. Seek urgent help if you experience:
- Chest pain
- Shortness of breath
- Pain in the arms or shoulders
- Lightheadedness

General Tips:
- Pulmonary Rehabilitation: This can help you learn how to exercise with less shortness of breath and dizziness.
- Heart-Healthy Diet: A diet low in salt and saturated and trans fats is important for managing PAH.

Always consult your healthcare provider for personalized advice and treatment options.

Hey Bonnie. I am sure you have been told to rise slowly. Be sure to get your balance before trying to walk. I have a Rollater type walker. If I am feeling “wiggly” I can sit quickly. I tend to steady myself by holding/touching the edge of whatever is the nearest to me. I went from bed to bath and went down hard. Broke a front tooth, black/blue massive bruises from head to toe. I honestly have no clue how it happened. I don’t remember hitting anything. Needed a CT for a concussion. I felt both “old” and foolish. I am in my 50’s. My husband is forever saying “Why are you up?” I chose my route and my approach to any “up right” endeavour at this point.
Stay on top of your iron levels. Low iron can contribute to syncope episodes. Dehydration is also a culprit. If electrolytes are out of balance the equilibrium becomes off. There are is a plethora of other things out there. Be honest with yourself about your limits. Stay hydrated. Be mindful of your lab work. Know when to say “No”. The last one is the hardest for me.
Hope this helps.
