Has Any Of You Had Surgery To Remove Embolisms Causing PAH?

I had the thromboendarterectomy 6 months ago.. completely off oxygen and opsumit. Still getting my strength back through regular excersise, but they said I would need to give it a year to reach my plateau. I had to go back on oxygen while on a trip to Utah this past summer do to high altitude, but was able to get right off again after coming back to lower altitude.

Pulmonary endarterectomy (PEA) is a surgery used to treat chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), which is caused by large blood clots in the pulmonary arteries. During PEA, a heart-lung machine takes over the role of the heart and lungs while the surgeon removes the blood clots. This procedure can potentially cure CTEPH and eliminate the disease, although it comes with significant risks, including a 4 percent mortality rate.
