PAH Vs PVH - Do You Know The Difference?
I have just been seen by a specialist who deals ONLY with pulmonary hypertension. He has informed me that I do NOT have PAH, contrary to what 2 pulmnologists have thought over the past 6 months, but rather PVH; i.e., "venous" rather than "arterial." He said my kind is somewhat less severe. This is all very confusing, since my original diagnosis was via a right-heart catheterization. Apparently, many doctors and much of the literature use PH and PAH interchangeably, as though they are the same… read more
Thats why your doctor should be answering these questions. Not support group people. I have copd, ashmatic, hypertention, heart issues colore and Im on a bipap. I have cardiologist, vascular surgeon, oncologist, neuro surgeon, pulmonologist and a primary doctor. And Ent that works with neuro. The odds of getting them all to agree on anything. Odds are against me. You would think vascular in my lungs would go to vascular. Nope he does my legs only. Will not touch my lung care. Luckily I have a really good primary. He makes everyone go through him for any test request.
I just had covid again. Im hoping all of you will get your boosters. Please.

There are five types of pulmonary hypertension. PAH is Type 1 PH. It originates on the right side of the heart. Types 2-5 originate on the left side of the heart and are caused by things like sleep apnea, COPD, heart valve disease, congestive heart failure, etc. These links are from the RESOURCES tab for this site. I hope they help.
As someone that has 5 stents and has has 6 heart attacks and a tripple bipass i deal with blood not getting where it needs to be all the time.
I should have dated my comment above, in re: Covid booster shots. Today, when I posted it, is August 27, 2023.

Thank you, Psliger, you make some very good points. So sorry to hear about the Covid. You certainly don't need that aggravation. Just a comment on your advice about booster shots. If you already had the booster last year that covers the first variant, you cannot get the booster for the newest "B-something"variant yet. Just yesterday I got an RSV shot and asked the pharmacist about a booster to cover that one. He expects it to be ready for the public by late September.
