I See So Many Of Us Posting About NO BENDING OVER? Why?

I’m asking for myself…
I’m finding that daily if I bend over trying to put shoes on or need to pick up something I feel drained, dizzy and off balance is the only way to describe it.

I found this information on the above site:

"Shortness of breath when bending over happens because the heart — already weakened by heart failure — cannot adjust to the shifting fluid levels in the abdomen."

"...can put pressure on the diaphragm and other muscles required for breathing.

For similar reasons, people with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) — high blood pressure in the arteries within the lungs — may also have shortness of breath when bending over."

On a personal note, I get short of breath and lightheaded when I bend over too. I also have PAH. I've had to compensate by squatting or kneeling, which are iffy as it is sometimes difficult to get back up. I have learned the hard way that I must sit, bend my knee, and put my foot on a chair to tie my shoes.

The most difficult thing I do in a day, is put my shoes, & socks on, it drives me crazy! I have a very difficult time ambulating, due to arthritis, I am sure, but lately it has been my balance, hang on to everything, afraid I am going to fall. Will check with my primary care when I see him in October, if maybe something can be done about that, maybe physical therapy? Hopefully, there is something!

I have a cathiter runnibg from my head causing fluid to drain into my stomach. That really throws my fluid off. I have retaining fluid issue any way. I just know to stand slowly. Dont walk until you know your balance is back.

So you didnt do home work. You didnt ask your doctor why this happens? I to have been having major balance issues lately. I did ask my doctor about it. But my factors will be different because of the brain tumor. Plus I have a shunt that runs a tube clear down to my stomach to keep the fluid off my brain. You need to have your doctor explain it to you. The articals youll find in the support group will help you allot.
