I am not on a blood thinner, but I am taking Adempas. I am on 2.5 MG and so far, thank the good Lord, I have not had any side effects. Going to see my cardiologist and Pulmonary doctor in March. Will be having blood work, CT scan of heart and another test done. Failed my 6 minute walk test in January so will be interesting to see what they have to say. God is in charge, so I am leaving it to Him.

Suminoff, yes I have clots in the lungs but not the heart. They were identified both by a CT with Contrast and the newer V/Q Scan which is supposedly the gold standard to ID clots. I was on Eliquis for 6 months and that was a "FAIL" as more clots were formed and my pulmonary pressure increased. So I feel like I lost 6 months. If you have CTEPH (ask your Pulmonologist) then apparently the first blood thinner of choice is Warfin and NOT Eliquis. Eliquis is easy as there is no monitoring of the blood. But my Cardio said to go with Warfin and I am. I say this based on research I did on NIH and other "scientific" papers that Warfin may be the better choice for folks like us with clots in the lungs. So now I"m on Warfin --just started. They also put me on the newest drug called Adempas which was designed specifically for CTEPH (the type of PH that has clots). There are several folks on here I was able to find who are taking Adempas with some success. Supposedly Adempas relaxes the blood vessels in the lungs making is easier to breath (around the clots), which would be welcomed. Also the drug acts a bit like a cholesterol drug by helping prevent the further build up of clots around existing clots. Sound like a good thing to me and worth the possible side effects IMO. Hopefully that makes sense. But be aware none of these meds remove or dissolve those clots. You must have one of two types of surgeries to remove the clots or push them out of the way. They form, stick to the walls of your vessels and even when removed they can leave scar tissue where the clots were. So not a pretty picture. I have been referred to UCLA San Diego for the Pulmonary Balloon Angioplasty which is the less invasive surgery for the clots. If you research the "crack your chest open" surgery you will see what the surgeons have removed. Gross looking. The clots look almost like alien tendrils or even roots. I guess they form to the shape of the blood vessels. Cardio told me we have hundreds of thousands of blood vessels in our lungs. I am hoping the Balloon surgery will be make a difference. Best. Adempas has been wonderful! My breathing is mostly fair to better. I kept myself at 2 0 for 2 months but going up to 2.5 Tuesday. VA will only pay milage. Wife is unable to drive 5 hours and turn around and come back. Adempas does not cure PAH or CTEPH but helps you to breathe better. Saw the pulmonologist yesterday. 6 minute walk test much more easier to do. He said I was doing better on Adempas.

Hi Suminoff, I had a pulmonary embolism. They found it when I was diagnosed with ph. They did a ct of my chest. I am on eliquis and sildenafil. As far as I know there have been no more PEs. My last echocardiogram showed my pressure down from 87 to 46 after a year on eliquis. Hopefully they will not return.
I hope everything goes well for you.
Have a blessed evening.

I take Eliquis to prevent that.
